For a Video:

Go to the bottom right of the video and click on the “gears” icon:

This window will pop up. Click on “playback speed”

Choose your preferred speed by sliding the speed bar or choose a speed. Our advice is choose .75. The further away you go from the normal speed, the more distorted the sound will be:

To Slow Down an MP3 file you need to get the file stored on your computer.

Click link Download MP3 Practice Files on new page 2026 Winter MP3 Audio Practice Files. Double click on the folder for the piece::

Click on Download for the file required. See example where hand pointer is located in the screen capture to the right.

In Windows, open the mp3 file by double-clicking on the file in your downloads folder.

That should play the song in your music player like Windows media player. It should allow you to control the speed by clicking on the settings ‘…’ symbol and choosing Speed:

In Ipad or Mac, download a media player such as VLC Media Player (NOT VLC Video Player). That will create a VLC folder on your device. Copy mp3 files from your download folder to the VLC folder and they will be available to play in the VLC Player. Once the song is playing tap it to get the grey screen enlarged. Then tap the ‘…’ symbol at the top right when playing the song

and one of the options that will appear is playback speed’.
